Let’s be honest for a minute… are you tired of feeling exhausted, chubby or unmotivated to eat well? I know you’ve heard this before but really… wouldn’t it be great to feel good in your own skin again? This New Year, whether you have a little weight to lose, lots of weight to lose, want to learn to eat better or just want to improve your health, it all starts with the food we consume daily. One thing I’ve learned in this past year is, whether you’re overweight or not, the food we eat can either improve or hinder the way our body functions. Unhealthy foods make our bodies’ organs & metabolism sluggish and prone to illness. Real food allow your body to function how it was designed, giving us energy, a boosted immune system and allows weight to naturally fall off!
Will you join me this New Year in a “Real Food” Challenge? Starting Jan 1, we will commit to eating only real food for 31 days, TOGETHER!
And don’t worry if you feel like you don’t know how. I’m here to help! I will be posting lots of breakfast, lunch, dinner and snack ideas, as well as ways to enjoy sweets without too much sugar. Together we’ll learn how to eat lots of fresh produce, plenty of healthy proteins, healthy grains in moderation, and learn how to limit sugar. I’ll give you ideas for getting your family on board and even tips on eating out.
I hit my low last October. I was SO over feeling yucky and my self-image was at it’s worst. Every single day, I felt like I couldn’t keep up with my schedule and definitely couldn’t keep up with my kids. It was a internal, personal battle I dealt with everyday and I was so disappointed in myself. How could I let myself get here? Why was it so hard to lose weight? I already ate well… what was the problem? If you’ve been following my Journey to a New Me, you know that I’ve learned a lot about my body’s chemistry thanks to a nutritionist that I’ve been seeing. I’ve learned about my body’s food sensitivities and have re-learned HOW to eat. While each of our body’s are different, a great way to start is to just consume real foods. Cut out the processed, frozen and packaged foods and eat whole foods. Cook meals at home, prep meals ahead of time (when you have the time instead of during your busy week) and you’ll be surprised to find out that it’s really not that hard!
Think You Don’t Have Time?
We are all busy… I get it! I am too. I work full time, between 2 jobs, plus I am a full-time mom. There aren’t many hours to prep food during the day, but we each have time in our week that we can make time for it. Maybe it’s a Saturday morning while the family is watching cartoons or Sunday afternoon when it’s your only time home. It’ll take some scheduling but we all can find a couple hours to plan out some meals and prep any food we need for the week.
Think Your Family Won’t Be on Board?
They probably won’t at first.. you’re right! So you do the best you can. Don’t force your changes on everyone. Keep some of their favorites around. When you cook a meal for the family, let it be something you can enjoy with them, but include a side of something extra they can enjoy too. It takes some discipline on your part to avoid the foods you should avoid. But you will still be enjoying a meal as a family and believe me… the kids (and your spouse) are watching you and may just follow your example at some point! If you aren’t the cook in your home, I will have plenty of recipes that you can share with the cook in your family, or you can simply enjoy your own meal that you’ve prepped on your days off.
Think You Can’t Afford It?
Yes, real whole foods do cost more than a frozen pizza or cereal. It’s a sad fact of our country but I have found some great ways to still keep my grocery budget under control. I will share with you the best cheapest places to find produce, especially organic produce, plus where to get the best meat deals. I’ll share with you my favorite real food bargain products at Costco and Trader Joe’s too! There are also great money-back apps that will give you cash back in your pocket for fresh food purchases! I also have some tips on local CSA’s that will give you the most amazing local produce for reasonable prices.
Will you try this for 31 days with us? I’m here to support you and give lots of tips & ideas. Plus, you will help me a ton on my journey and help me stay accountable. No more excuses… let’s do this!
Come join us HERE in our “Real Food” Challenge Facebook group where we can share our victories, challenges and encourage each other. Also, post in the comments below to let us know you’re on board. Believe me, there’s nothing better that you can do for yourself this January!
